The Windy SLR60/SR60 is the latest ultra-capable chase boat from Windy Scandinavia and was designed in collaboration with Malcolm Mckeon Yacht Design. She offers an impressive range of 800 NM at 25kts and a luxurious interior from LIAIGRE. There is also a choice of a standard SR or SLR – long range configuration.
The SLR60/SR60 is a high quality and capable chase boat and luxury sports boat. She has been developed in co-operation with renowned Naval Architect Malcolm McKeon and will be built by Windy in Sweden.
Windy’s philosophy has always been to design and build boats that set a new benchmark of style and performance. Working only with the world’s greatest designers and craftsmen, drawing on their passion and skill, Windy has been able to build a name and a product that is envied by many. The commission of the Windy SR52 Blackbird in 2008 provided the first opportunity for Windy to partner with designers and naval architects external to the company. The SR52 Blackbird opened up a new world for Windy, introducing the brand to the superyacht sector as the builder of the world’s finest chase boat, and Malcolm McKeon was intrinsic to the design of that model. We are incredibly excited to be working with him again.
Windy SLR60/SR60 is a powerful 60ft chase boat with a strong personality and clear dual purpose which again brings together the Norwegian powerboat builder Windy with Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design. With a range of 850 nautical miles at 25 knots, the Windy SLR60 has been designed to be the ultimate superyacht chase boat for long distance excursions. However, it will also serve as a very nimble sports boat for diving and fishing, as well as support shoreside exploration. This contemporary and elegant design is fitted with a large swim platform aft of the luxurious guest area and bar, making it a very attractive vessel for socialising and enjoying relaxing times on the water.
Interior design is created by LIAIGRE - in the yachting industry, the LIAIGRE signature is synonymous with refined materials, assemblies, and finishes.
We undertook a rigorous testing procedure to assess the boat’s performance in varying sea states has been conducted. The SLR60 has been designed to operate in extreme sea conditions, with a generous flare to the bow and multiple chines on the hull keeping the boat as dry as possible.
Cape Horn Engineering comments “We conducted a rigorous testing procedure to evaluate and assess the boat’s performance in varying sea states. One of the main concerns of the client was the amount of spray that the yacht would experience when going through waves at speed. CFD investigations and analyses were conducted on how to minimise the spray or prevent spray being blown back into the boat. By optimising the design of the freeboard with a generous flare to the bow and giving special attention to the position of the multiple chines and spray rails this concern was addressed, keeping the boat as dry as possible’’.
RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised Cat B – Offshore
The Windy SLR60/SR60 is built “in house” at the Windy Shipyard in Vastervik, Sweden where they have a purpose built and modern yacht building facility.
The Windy SLR60/SR60 is purposely designed for the Volvo 3x IPS 650 engines with Joystick docking system. This system not only offers excellent handling and performance, but also makes the yacht very easy to manage shorthanded, in busy marina environments or when she needs to be precisely maneuvered.
There is also the option of the Volvo Penta Dynamic positioning system, which allows the yacht to automatically hold her position and heading. This can be very useful when the yacht is required to hold station for prolonged periods, for example when standing off and waiting for guests.
Maintenance & Performance:
Propulsion & Steering:
Note: The Humphree system automatically controls the trim of the yacht and can be manually adjusted to the conditions. The auto list option controls the port / starboard heel of the yacht and the coordinated turn option further increases comfort during high-speed turns.
Other Mechanical Equipment:
Lithium batteries as option.
Grey/Blackwater holding tanks:
The Volvo Penta Glass cockpit system comes as standard and incorporates all key helm information via a single interface. The quality touch screen displays, link with the Volvo Penta electronic vessel control system and provide a total overview of navigation and engine data.
