2006 Ocean Alexander 48' Classico Aft Cabin
The Ocean Alexander 48 Classico, Ed Monk Jr. NA design, is the hard-to-find aft cabin long distance cruiser. With the twin 240 hp Yanmar diesel engines she has "long legs" for miserly cruising distance and a bow thruster for easy handling.
The large fully enclosed flybridge has an L-Shaped dinette and twin helm seats, providing comfort in all weather conditions.
This twin-cabin model, each with head and separate shower, has an aft cabin with walkaround queen berth providing long term liveaboard comfort. There are many upgrades from washer/dryer to salon ice maker to name a few.
She has already leisurely completed the "Great Circle Loop" and is now home in the Gulf.
Continually maintained with new bottom paint (May 2021) and batteries (July 2021) she is ready to go cruising again.
Enter the main salon amidships thru either the port or starboard doors. You will immediately notice the luxurious feel of the OA custom teak cabinetry, the optional Teak and Holly sole (thru-out the vessel), and optional upgrade luxury package including Ultra leather, fabrics, granite counter tops, and much more. Many large windows provide natural light and some open for ventilation. The salon features L-Shaped settee to starboard with a custom hi-lo table and hassock seating, even an ULine refrigerator/ice maker under helm seat, the optional custom built OA entertainment cabinetry to port with Teak counter, LCD TV, DVD/Stereo system, and lots of storage.
Forward starboard is the inside helm station with pilot seat next to pilothouse door for quick egress, the Teak dash wood helm wheel, Raymarine 80 Chart plotter, engine gauges, ZF electronic engine controls (both helms), bow thruster control (both helms), Tank Tender gauge, just inboard is the electrical panel with circuit breakers, both 12v and 110v, meters, generator start control and gauges.
Engine room access is thru Teak sole next to pilothouse seat. There is an additional custom access hatch just aft of that which OA custom built, under the movable salon dinette table. These were done for Great Loop trip access to engines and generator in foul weather.
Forward port is galley with upgraded granite countertops, plus raised serving counter, s/s sink, lots of cabinet and drawer storage, overhead dish storage, full size upright refrigerator, cook-top, microwave/convection oven, and Teak and Holly flooring.
Forward between helm and galley is hallway to guest cabin with custom optional over/under berths, cedar lined full height hanging locker, lockers and drawers, optional washer/dryer combo machine, and large head with separate shower stall, mirror medicine cabinet, drawers and storage under sink, granite counter top, Tecma head, E-look ceiling, opening hatch and port lights.
Aft of salon is the master cabin with center-line walk around queen sized berth, mirror in headboard, bureau with mirror, night stand with drawer, full height cedar lined hanging locker, flat screen TV with storage lockers, sliding windows for ventilation (don't always need ac), overhead hatch, and large head with separate shower stall, granite counter top, vanity storage drawers and lockers, mirror medicine cabinet, E-look ceiling, Tecma head.
Deck, Hull, Helm and Electronics:
This Ocean Alexander 48 Classico aft cabin is the updated long range cruising model they are known for, designed by Ed Monk, Jr. NA whose experience really shows. From a large stern platform for safely boarding from your dinghy, to the large fiberglass double anchor platform, with side decks and raised bulwarks for safely walking, access either side to salon or pilothouse, large aft sundeck, safe access to flybridge with handrails, access to the voluminous stern deck lazarette to store all those cruising garage items. Even the radar mast is hinged to lower for those short "loop" bridges, and with only 4' draft and bow thruster access to many cozy anchorages.
Engine and Mechanical:
The very economical Yanmar 240 hp twin diesel engines completed "The Great Circle Loop" and are ready to go again with only 925 hours. Low hours on the Northern Lights 8kw generator with less than 400 hours.
Everything continually maintained - new bottom paint (May 2021) and new batteries (July 2021).
This aft cabin cruising model was purchased from the Ocean Alexander dealership and displayed in the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. These original owners were accomplished cruisers and ordered this OA 48 Classico to take a multi-year trip of the Great Circle Loop. So many of the features were custom built to accomplish economically and with ease for a couple.
Continuously maintained, she is better now than when originally displayed in the boat show. With low hours, new bottom paint and batteries, she is ready to go again.
