Sweden Yachts 45, MARIVAL is a lovely example of the popular 45 series - of which about 80 were built between 1999 and 2007.

Originally based in the Mediterranean - she was purchased by her current US owners in 2015, in La Spezia. She was then used for about one month a year. She was stored on land when not in use. In 2017, she was shipped to the US and has been used just in the summer months, based in Rhode Island.    

The Sweden Yachts 45 is one of the best models from the highly regarded Sweden Yachts yard. Coming from the successful collaboration between Peter Norlin and Jens Ostmann. Revolutionary in many respects, she sails well, and furthermore, with the self-tacking jib, is easy to manage by a couple. She is just a great looking boat, with very pretty lines.

The cockpit is large, comfortable, and a foldout-bathing platform makes it easy to swim or get on and off the boat.

The teak decks are glued down and are in good condition – refurbished 2015.  The mainsail traveller is forward and safely out of the way. MARIVAL has a bow thruster, and controls for the windlass at the helm, so docking and anchoring are easy.

The interior is beautifully made in satin-varnished Mahogany, with elegant fiddles and locker doors. Fitted carpets cover and protect the cabin sole. The spacious galley has 24v refrigeration, which is water cooled for greater efficiency.

With a new 8KW generator in 2020, air conditioning and a watermaker, MARIVAL is well set up for cruising. Expensive upgrades this winter include a new set of North sails, and new standing rigging.

There are only a few Sweden 45s in the US, and this one is currently the only one on the market.

We looked at many Sweden Yachts 45s when we were shopping for a new boat - and having been long time Sweden Yachts 41 owners, we knew we wanted to return to the brand. MARIVAL fitted our needs perfectly, as it is just the two of us sailing. We had three wonderful summer seasons in the Med, and then recently great summer sailing in New England, which is now our summer home area. We shall miss her!
