EXTERIOR The Baltic 64 is a sloop-rigged IOR-IMS racer - cruiser. The hull is balsa core fiberglass sandwich construction to the highest specification using fiberglass mat, unidirectional roving and mat-roving combination to develop an extremely rigid yet light and well-insulated structure. All high-stress areas are specially strengthened with built up unidirectional roving oriented in the direction of the stress. Unidirectional roving is a special developed glass-aramid (Kevlar) hybrid to improve impact resistance, strength, stiffness and safety of the structure. Special selected aircraft grade end grain balsa used in sandwich construction for increased strength and weight saving purposes. Taking advantage of modern lightweight construction techniques and fiber technology enables a higher ballast-displacement ratio which gives better performance and seaworthiness for the yacht. It has a three-spreader racing-cruising type mast. The spar is made from aluminum alloy, and is provided with aluminum airfoil spreaders. The yacht is constructed with fin keel type ballast. The external keel is cast to high accuracy in lead with added antimony and through-bolted to the hull. New keel shape developed, based on extensive tank testing and practical tests on one-off racing yachts. Keel performance is optimized. The new keel shape has among others the following advantages in comparison with a conventional fin type keel: - lower centre of gravity, increasing stability without adding ballast weight - shorter cord lengths at top and tip improving laminar flow and lowering drag. - higher lift-drag ratio - maximum lift at small leeway angles INTERIOR Galley Area: Galley provided with four-burner gimballed propane stove with oven.
