From the Seller: Why we bought Stargazer almost 19 years ago:
We wanted a boat that was easy to handle, but did not have all the modern gadgets that needed a lot of electricity and upkeep. We were also looking for a boat that was under 40. But when we went aboard STARGAZER the inside actually felt larger than a 41foot boat.
All sail handling lines are handled from the cockpit and are stored in custom-made pockets with extra custom-made pockets for additional storage.
We also wanted a lot of cross ventilation, all portholes being able to open, easy engine access to be able to change the oil with no problem. We saw that the water tanks and the fuel tanks would be easy to replace if ever necessary in the future. (we had to replace the fuel tanks in our previous boat and it was a nightmare)
After purchase, we realized that STARGAZER is very easy to handle.
We crossed the Gulfstream many times in the last 19 years; at least twice a year. She weathered all kinds of seas and conditions, proving the sturdiness of construction that exceeds her safety specifications as underwritten by Lloyd's of London.
Stargazer is ready to go with everything you need for staying at anchor for extended periods. If the sun shines every day, for months, the solar panel handles the refrigeration and the fresh water system pump. No need to go to the dock.
We were also looking for heavy-duty cleats, especially for going through hurricanes in Florida. On STARGAZER they are thru-bolted, not just screwed to the deck. Another thing that was important to us was that the headliner can be removed to run cables for additional electronics, etc.
After purchase we installed a side ladder that can be used on either side, that folds down that includes a swim platform for safety reasons. If one were to fall overboard underway and the dingy is up on the davits it would be almost impossible to climb back into the boat,
We have roll-down shades for rain zipped to the awning and they open up into awnings to get extra shade.
