“Koae” is a true blue-water cruiser – capable of comfortable liveaboard or offshore circumnavigation, and includes a complete commercial fuel polishing setup. She has proven her seaworthiness by weathering a tropical storm at sea unharmed and sailing thousands of offshore miles. Her interior was designed and finished in 2008 by a professional shipwright, and all systems were completely overhauled to prepare for major ocean voyages. In 2016, her engine "short block" (pistons/crank/block) was replaced and she was sailed 7k miles from San Diego through the Panama Canal and up to Rhode Island. She has been expertly maintained by a professional yacht engineer, and she is ready to set off on a voyage of a lifetime!
Perkins 4108, 48HP, major overhaul 2016 new "short block", engine completely replaced from the head down. Engine hours on new block approx 280.
Commercial fuel polishing system installed as fuel filtration, can be removed easily and used for professional jobs on other boats if needed, originally installed to clean fuel purchased in Central America during passages.
Hydraulic transmission, stuffing box and running gear in excellent condition and recently serviced. Owner was professional marine tech and kept up all systems and equipment to shipyard standards.
Koae interior was built in 2008, designed for cruising and liveaboard comfort for a couple with occasional guests. She has a large master cabin aft, with a smaller V berth and couch berth available forward. Includes a full size stand-up shower
Primary fuel tank is 80 gallons, with a secondary stainless steel 100 gallon tank starboard.
Water tanks are 3 100 gallon stainless steel tanks.
Holding tank is in the forward head, 40 gallons new plastic
For cooking there is a new Force 10 4-burner stove with an oven and broiler, runs on propane from tanks in an ABYC approved propane locker aft.
Large double sink in the galley, all water runs and plumbing are high quality Whale Quick-Disconnect system so no hose clamps, the nicest plumbing system money can buy.
Forward head can be run on fresh or salt water
Port side there is a full size stand-up shower with a closing door and bench/lockers
Koae was truly a labor of love, no expense was spared in the systems, plumbing and electrical. All work was done to ABYC standards, using the best available fixtures and equipment. Interior lights are all top of the line IMTRA LED yacht light fixtures, plumbing and wiring is all top quality. She then proved the quality of her systems and design by sailing through Central America for 7 months.
