Very smart example of the Norwegian built Saga 26HT. Economical Yanmar diesel engine and shaft drive make the Saga 26HT a great choice for coastal cruising in UK waters.
The boat has an open back to the wheel shelter, opening up the large cockpit to become part of the accommodation space, with the galley located between the inside and outside spaces. The full cockpit cover opens up cockpit to be usable in all weathers.
The cabin space is accessed via a wide companionway to port of the helm station. The U-shaped dinette provides a below decks living space for crew with the large centrally mounted table dropping down to create a large (1.89m long by 1.52m wide) double berth. Storage is provided within the cabin in the form of under bunk storage lockers, a large deep front opening locker in the bow and a half height hanging locker aft. An additional single bunk is provided in the aft port section of the cabin with the bunk extending aft under the cockpit seating.
A dedicated heads compartment is provided at the aft starboard end of the cabin. Of a good size for a boat of 26' the compartment provides a manual sea toilet which discharges via a holding tank, sink, shower and vanity unit.
Moving aft into the wheel shelter the helm station is located to starboard at the forward end of the wheel shelter with an adjustable seat provided for the helmsman. The full width windscreen and large portlights in the side of the wheel shelter provides excellent vision for the helmsman. With the companionway hatch shut a working space for chart work is created to the starboard side with a second forward facing seat provided.
Immediately aft of the helm seat is the compact yet fully functional galley area. Laid out sensibly the galley provides all amenities required to cater for a small crew with 2 burner Smev gas cooker, stainless steel sink, folding work surface and fridge. Two lockers and selection of drawers provide storage for crockery, cutlery and provisions.
The large cockpit aft provides seating in a U shaped configuration with comfortable cushions and backrests. An adjustable height cockpit table fitted on a swiveling base with folding leaves provides a huge number of combinations to suit the requirements of the crew aboard. Lockers are provided under all seating to create a huge storage capacity.
The engine space is sited below the sole in the cockpit and galley area with all sole board lifting to provide full, easy access to the engine and sterngear. The engine space is completely boxed in with all surfaces covered in sound insulation.
Two 85ah batteries fitted new 2012.
The aft end of the boat is dominated by the large cockpit. A swimming platform on the transom has a hot and cold shower handset and provides additional deck storage lockers and a robust swimming ladder with handrails for access aboard. There Weaver snap davit fittings for the dinghy. Access onto the side decks going forward is by stepping up onto the cockpit seats. Stout handrails mounted on the wheel house make moving forward easier for crew. Forward of the wheel house the boat is fitted with a pilot boat style inboard handrail rather than the conventional outboard mounted guardrails. Fender baskets are mounted on the handrail.
The Simpson Lawrence electric windlass is mounted centrally on the small foredeck can be operated from both the deck and the wheelhouse positions. The anchor rode is made up of 30 metres chain + 30 metres rope and a Rocna 6kg anchor.
