The Catalina 42 MkII features a huge cockpit with seating for eight, including the popular stern rail perches on port and starboard. Custom Bottomsider closed-cell cockpit cushions all around and a recent dodger, Bimini and clear connector effectively turn the cockpit into another living room on the boat. There is superb access to the water via the walk-through transom and a wide swim platform with a convenient hot/cold cockpit shower. MISS KRISS is also equipped with a custom arch over the cockpit that not only serves as a platform for radar and other antennas, but also has integral dinghy davits. Moving down below through the wide companionway entrance via the gently-sloping stairs, you are immediately struck by the spaciousness of the cabin. There is 6'6" of headroom and multiple overhead hatches to supply plenty of light and ventilation. Forward is the Pullman-style owners' cabin with a large double berth to port and en-suite head with separate stall shower. The main salon has a dining table to port that seats six and also converts to a double berth, and another settee to starboard.. All upholstery down below features the upgrade option of luxurious "Ultra Leather." Overhead hatches feature Oceanair built-in shades. The side-facing Navigation station to starboard has a wide chart table, dedicated chair and neatly organized instruments as well as a wall-mounted flat screen TV. L-shaped galley to port is laid out with 3-burner propane stove/oven, deep top and side loading refrigerator/freezer and microwave all within easy reach. There is a large double stainless steel sink and all the counter space needed for meal preparation and storage space for long range cruising. The second head to starboard features an electric-flush fresh-water toilet and stand-up shower stall. The aft cabin contains a large double berth and is well-lit and ventilated with multiple ports and large overhead hatch. There is plenty of storage space in a hanging closet and drawers. Overall, the accommodations on the Catalina 42 MkII are very well thought out, time-tested, and second to none for a boat this size.
