1995 Riva 32 Ferrari Special
The Riva 32 Ferrari was born from the wonderful marriage between Riva and Ferrari Engineering, a liaison that has capitalized on the combining of both companies technology and extensive experience.
The agreement between Riva and Ferrari Engineering was signed during the summer of 1988: the research workers of the two teams set to work together with the objective of producing a high-performance powerboat, elegant and sophisticated in appearance, combining the qualities which gave both companies their legendary reputations.
The 32 Ferrari was designed for lovers of fast power boating and the carbon fibre wing is its unique signature. It can be without doubt, be defined as “The powerboat of the ‘90’s”
The pilot and forward passenger seats are a wrap-around bolster type with bottoms that fold down to allow use while standing or sitting. Each front seat has a fold out molded fiberglass drink tray. With a 2-shelf locker on each of the cockpit, there is plenty of storage for nautical gear. Aft of the driving station is a bench seat, which can seat up to three people comfortably. The V8 BPM Vulcano engines are located under a large hatch in the sun deck, and are ready to propel the boat to full speed. As with all Rivas, only the best machinery is used; BPM motors, Borg Warner transmissions, Rolla props, and VDO instrumentation.
A hydraulically operated swim ladder mounted in the transom, reveals a fresh water shower hose when in open position. A cabin located below decks has ample berthing for 2 people, overhead hatch, concealed marine toilet, and many stowage spaces.
The wonderful, matching numbers Riva 32 Ferrari Special presented here, hull 44, is the 36th of just 37 examples in total to leave the Riva yard. Given its 1995 build date, this Special version of which only 9 were built during 1993/1995, benefitted from a multitude of mechanical and aesthetic improvements that were studied between 1990 and 1992. Mechanically, these boats featured the latest specification of the robust BPM 450SC Vulcano engine now with a power rating of 410hp, an improved performance over the previous model and now no longer fitted with a closed cooling system. Visually, their extended platform and longer propeller shaft’s distinguish the 9 late-production Special’s.
Finished in a one-off production colour “Giallo Modena” with white interior, as it appears today, hull 44 was completed in 1995. This unique late production 32 Ferrari Special is offered with its original keys, a full tool roll, owner’s handbooks, and a file of documentation that includes copies of important ownership records, Riva drawings, period photos and wooden Riva boat cradle. Coming out of long-term enthusiastic ownership this boat is in carefully preserved and properly maintained condition, and striking as when sold by the Riva yard in 1998. Fresh water only since new.
