I purchased "NEROLI" in May '02 after a year long search - no other boat I saw matched her appearance, construction, specifications or sailing ability for the price, even though these Swedish yachts hold there value so well! "NEROLI" has proved to be a great passage maker, fast, safe and easy to sail ( especially with the self-tacker ) yet realistic to maintain and run. As a 'second home' she is light and airy below and very comfortable
Even in winter due to the double skinned, insulated core deck. My wife and I always look forward to being on this boat and are proud of the compliments she gets. I have upgraded much equipment and maintained her to a very high standard, she has been hauled out every season to dry out and re- fit/service/anti-foul. In 2008 we had her hull sandblasted & 6 coats of Epoxy were professionally applied by a leading Maxi Maintenance company.
"NEROLI" was 'Love at first sight' and once I'd sailed a Maxi 1000 other 10 metre cruisers seemed second rate; so why are we selling her? - to buy a bigger Maxi of course! I can not esteem this mark too highly for the novice who needs confidence or the demanding sailor who wants a boat that actually sails well and far!
This Maxi 1000 is, in our opinion, in very good condition. She has been well maintained & updated by her current Owners who have had her for 16 years. This very solid, Swedish built cruiser / racer is able to achieve a good turn of speed, whilst also being capable of longer distance cruising as well. The great thing about this yacht is that despite being a fast boat, her comfort & accommodation below is not compromised. With 6 berths, seating for the whole Crew, forward facing Nav station, galley & separate heads this Maxi 1000 is a very comfortable boat to spend time onboard. She is also well equipped with 2 Plotters, Radar, recent new Autopilot as well as speed, depth & wind indicators & of course VHF. Unusually for a Maxi, she has a Royal Blue painted hull which is very attractive & makes her stand out from the crowd. This is further complimented by the lighter, American Cherry woodwork below giving her cabin a much brighter and airy feel than on other 1000’s. In April 2018 she was out the water and has undergone a full programme of annual maintenance.
With her excellent design by Pelle Pettersen & comprehensive inventory, this Maxi 1000 offers everything you could need for fun sailing around coastal waters whilst still being very capable of cruising further afield or racing. She has plenty of onboard space for safe & fun cruising with family & friends, but is equally manageable short handed. This is a very solid, well constructed boat that oozes the quality & craftsmanship that is expected of this Swedish Marque. She is currently lying Southampton & viewing is highly recommended.
