DESCRIPTION
The Shannon 39 mirrors the improvements over the last two decades in roller furling, self-tailing winches, auto pilots, refrigeration, electronics, foam core composite fiberglass technology, and even equipment as mundane as gel cell batteries. The internal lead ballast and the hull section shape results in a stiff and stable boat even in heavy air. The 39 is a middleweight, best for a true coastal cruiser-offshore passage-maker. The sail plan on the 39 combines the performance attributes of a sloop with the versatility of a cutter. The 39 is designed to be rigged with a conventional stem roller furling genoa. Three feet forward on the bow-anchor platform is another stay that accepts a yankee jib. In addition, the 39 is set up with a special inner "baby" stay that attaches to a deck fitting 2 feet aft of the stem. This stay can be used in extreme conditions for a spitfire storm jib as well as for a whisker pole topping lift. To keep folks totally off the deck when the wind picks up, the 39 is set up with the continuous line reefing on the mainsail, and the halyards all lead to the cockpit. Regarding the interior layout, the 39 has a full-size forward cabin and berth arrangement suitable for living aboard. The V-berths with filler have maximum width at the shoulders, enough foot room and length, and a lower berth height for easier entry. The space gained by locating the head aft has allowed for expansion of the main salon. The two settees and pilot berths in the main salon are all excellent sea bunks. The pullout double and single settee combine with the pilot berth and V-berth for a total of six adult-sized bunks. The U-shaped galley is very functional.
SALON
The main salon has a settee to port with a fold down pilot berth above and storage behind. Each berth is fitted with lee cloths. Forward of this is a hanging locker with the TV locker above. There is a teak drop-leaf table mounted on the centerline. To Starboard is an L-shaped dinette that converts to a queen berth. Outboard are three storage lockers. The center locker houses the stereo system and has cut outs for wine storage. A clock and barometer are mounted on the forward bulkhead. Seven opening portlights and an overhead hatch provide natural lighting and ventilation.
GALLEY
Down below to starboard is the spacious U-shaped galley. The galley makes cooking at sea or at anchor a breeze.

There is an electric fan at the foot of the bed for air circulation. New LED lighting throughout cabin.
