A purpose-built boat by, arguably, one of the world's finest and most demanding craftsman. Van Ki Pass was designed and built by Vic Carpenter to be an elegantly finished racer that could be easily sailed by a small crew. She is the ideal vessel for someone who desires a yacht for racing (she is fast!!!), or her gorgeous construction, finish and size could be easily modified for cruising or crewed yacht charters. Van Ki Pass, a stunning vessel with craftsmanship rarely found, awaits for the perfect owner, appreciating her all-wood construction and the dedication to her castings, custom done by Vic and his wife, Hazel’s intricate varnishing skill.

Vic Carpenter boats are all known as high performance sailors whether or not they were designed as racing or cruising yachts. They are all light, extremely rigid and have speed, finish, and joiner work that others can only envy.
Single planked 1-3/4” mahogany on laminated mahogany frames (varnished), floor timbers also of laminated mahogany as is keelson. Decks are 3/8" mahogany marine-ply glued and screwed to 3/4" cedar decks with Z-spar finish, deck beams are laminated sitka spruce faced with a single lamination of mahogany. ALL wood surfaces were epoxy glued sealing absolutely everything (plank edges, plank to frames, bulkheads to hull and floor timbers, literally everything), plus during the yacht’s construction she was in a humidity-controlled building shed resulting in the well-aged air dried mahogany being assembled in a very low, humidity state resulting in a strong light structure. All fastenings are passivated 3/16 stainless steel. The keel is also stainless steel and fully faired for racing. Fuel tanks are built into the keel sump. All interior bilge surfaces were epoxy coated and then the entire interior was varnished 8 coats. After 10 years, it all looks like the day it went on! the exterior received 10 coats.
