"Strider" is a well-found, well-built Reliance 44 designed for the sailor serious about comfortable offshore and live aboard cruising. Commissioned in 1992, the boat was kept on the Great Lakes until 2008 at which time she was taken to the Caribbean sailing the waters of the Bahamas, Eastern Caribbean, Venezuela, and Jamaica. Now back in the States, the boat is on the Chesapeake Bay ready for another adventure.
"Strider" is finished off below with ash joinery throughout the interior over teak and holly cabin soles. The feel is light and airy.
At the base of the companionway to starboard is a twin pilot berth. A second twin berth is located to port in a separate guest cabin. Forward to port is an enclosed head with lavatory, toilet, and shower. Opposite to starboard is a large hanging locker, pantry, and enclosed mechanical space. The main salon further forward has the vessel's forward-facing navigator's station and single settee to starboard. To port is a U-shaped galley. An L-shaped settee and a teak table on center with drop leaves completes the area. Beyond bi-fold doors going further forward is the master cabin with spacious V-berth, a large overhead hatch for excellent ventilation, another hanging locker and lots of additional storage..
The U-shaped galley has solid surface countertops, a double basin stainless steel sink with water filtration system, hot / cold pressure water, a foot-operated freshwater pump and a foot-operated saltwater pump. Cooking is performed on a gimbaled Mariner three-burner stove with oven. A front loading Seafrost refrigerator and a separate top loading Seafrost freezer are both good-sized. Cabinetry is nicely placed in the galley and storage spaces are well thought out.
