The Sabre 42 historically has been one of the most popular sailing/cruising yachts of all times. The Sabre Design team created a boat with classic lines, very balanced helm, powerful sails, and comfortable accommodations below to sleep 2 couples with separate heads, and a galley and main cabin which can easily sit 6 - 8 people around the dinner table or cockpit.
Safari has been lovingly maintained with periodic up-grades and is in "Sail Away Condition". There is a large assortment of sails that go with the boat a winter cover if you want to pull it out for the winter.
Safari has an electric winch for raising the centerboard for cruising in shallow waters and Air Conditioning in the summer months or if you want to take the boat south.
This is one of those boats that you have been waiting for....The owner has loved and maintained the boat in great shape, but it's now time for someone else to own and enjoy. If you are interested, it's definitely worth the trip. Call, Text, or e-mail asap....someone is going to get a really nice boat...
Hull The hull is a single unit fiberglass molding, which is hand laminated using the finest marine grade polyester resin. All fiberglass materials are precut using templates to maintain design thicknesses throughout the hull. Isothalic gelcoat, approximately 20 - 25 mm thick, is sprayed onto the highly polished hull mold, then one layer of 1.5 ounce gun roving is placed throughout the hullkbto provide a strong and even back-up for the gelcoat finish. This initial back=up layer is placed with vinylester resin, the balance with polyester resin.
The structural laminate is formed with alternate layers of 24 oz. bi-directional glass and 3/4 oz. mat. Unidirectional roving and additional reinforcement are used in high stress areas. Balsa core panels, 1/2" thick, are used to provide additional strength and stiffness with a minimum of weight.
Additional reinforcing is provided in all key stress areas by overlapping extra layers of fiberglass. Foe example, there are 18 layers at the stem, 22 layers at the keelson, and 29 layers where the keel is attached to the hull.
Deck: The Sabre 42 deck is a single unit, hand laminated, fiberglass molding, with nonskid surface molded in. One layer of 1.0 ounce fiberglass mat is initially placed throughout the deck to provide a strong and even back-up for the gelcoat finish. This is followed by one layer of 1.5 ounce mat, one layer of 10 ounce cloth, and one layer of 1.5 ounce mat. End grain balsa coring of various thicknesses is then applied to all walking surfaced and other stress areas of the deck. Additional reinforcing is provided in key stress areas, such as the mast collar, rudder post, and stanchion bases, using appropriate thicknesses of marine plywood. The deck laminate is then finished with one layer of 1.5 ounce mat and one layer of 24 ounce roving.
Livability aboard the Sabre 42 is defined in terms of privacy, convenience, and comfort. An innovative aft cabin arrangement features three separate cabins with berths for seven, and two heads, each with a shower. Standing headroom is 6' 5".....
The number of storage areas and openings on the Sabre 42 illustrates the efficiency of her plan. Storage facilities include 17 drawers, 46 storage and hanging lockers, and 18 shelves. Superb light and ventilation are achieved with 12 opening ports, 9 hatches, and 4 dorade vents.
The expansive main cabin area offers all the amenities of a second home, with plush 6' 6" berths port and starboard. A double leaf table folds up against a large magazine rack on the main bulkhead, ….A complete navigation station is equipped with a chart light, shelving, deep storage bin, three drawers, and a locker.
Roominess and at-home amenities are exceptional in the head. Features include a hand crafted teak grate over the sole, vanity with sink, and a pressurized hot and cold water shower.
