Owners Comments:

This boat is hull #001 of a series of approximately 200 33-2's. As such, it was the prototype, for the series, built in the C&C custom shop, as a proof of concept for a fast racer-cruiser, with emphasis on performance. The high-aspect rig was optimized at the University of Toronto wind tunnel. This boat was featured in the C&C literature when it was initially delivered. She differs from the production version in that it has a "built-up" interior, as opposed to the production molded interior. The advantage of this is that everything inside is easily accessible. As a result of not having a shower, the V-berth is exceptionally spacious. Also, it is the only one I know about that came with a tiller rather than a wheel. It was originally delivered to McPherson Sailing Products, the C&C dealer in Ithaca, NY and raced as "Shrew" by Don McPherson for a couple of years in the Ithaca/Lake Ontario area. As originally configured, she had accommodations for a crew of 8. The intent was that she would primarily be a racing boat. I learned that the boat was dismasted during a race when Don owned it. The original Cinkel(sp) mast was replaced with one from Southern Spars. The measurements are identical to the production boats.

In about 1986, she was sold to the second owner and renamed "Tigger". The boat raced successfully until 2000. Many upgrades were installed to keep the boat competitive in the PHRF fleet on Western Lake Ontario. I purchased the boat in 2001. Modifications to the interior by the 2nd owner included adding a semi-enclosed head and lavatory forward, a folding bulk head mounted teak table in the salon, and a galley sink and two-burner propane stove system, removing the port side quarter berth and one of the two pipe berths.

When I purchased "Tigger" in 2001, she had 10 winches, including 2 Barient 3-speeds as primary genoa winches, 2 Barient 2-speeds for secondaries in the cockpit, 4 winches at the aft end of the cabin top, and two winches forward of the mast to allow the foredeck crew to control management of spinnakers and pole under racing conditions. She has three jib halyards, enabling spinnaker changes. Jib cars are adjustable. It has a rigid Quik-Vang on the main and a Navtec hydraulic back stay adjuster. A (then) state-of-the-art B&G 390 computerized instrument system continues to give reliable service. The boat has a Tuff-Luff twin track headstay, which has been replaced, as well as a Furlex roller furler installed on its own headstay for cruising. Power is a Yanmar 2GM, 13hp. 2 cylinder diesel. When I took delivery, it appeared that every piece of equipment that had ever been on the boat, was included. The new owner will get all of it.

I have owned "Tigger" since 2001. We have campaigned the boat successfully on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence river, both in the US and Canada, in all the major regattas on the Eastern end of the lake, as well as an occasional foray to Oswego and Sodus Bay. She has won CORK overall twice, EYC overall and in division, and all of our local club regattas many times. TIgger continues to be a fast and competitive racer. She has always, as far as I know, been in fresh water. The most recent sails are Sobstad pentex laminates, including main and #1, #2, and #3 genoas, in 2011. Sail inventory includes a #4, a storm jib, 4 spinnakers, including the iconic "Tigger" graphic 3/4 oz. The inventory includes 4 mains, and numerous older headsails. The only dacron sail is the original main. The rest are laminated racing sails.

In addition, she has proved a comfortable cruiser for those times when we weren't racing.
