The Niagara 35 Mk I, designed by Mark Ellis and built by Hinterhoeller Yachtss of St. Catherines, Ontario, is a well built, traditionally styled cruising sloop with fine performance and a spacious and attractive interior. With a long fin keel, balanced spade rudder, and moderate draft, she's a stiff boat under sail and is able offshore. 260 Niagara 35's were built between 1979 until 1990. Sleeps 7/8. V berth forward with filler cushion. Main cabin next aft features settees to port and starboard. The starboard settee pulls out for form a double berth. Centerline teak table with two leaves. Aft of the main cabin is a centerline bulkhead running fore and aft that separates the galley to port from the head to starboard. Head features vanity with sink and handheld shower. Aft of the galley and head is a private aft cabin featuring a double quarterberth to port and a single quarterberth to starboard. Just forward of the starboard quarterberth is an outward-facing navigator's station with chart table with red/white chart light. The companionway steps from the cockpit lead down to the private aft cabin. Propane "CAT" thermostatically-controlled cabin heater. Teak and holly cabin sole.
The galley features a gimballed, HilleRange three-burner, stainless steel, propane stove with oven, refrigerated ice box, divided into fridge and freezer sections, and a stainless steel sink with hot and cold pressurized water. Hot water is provided by a Paloma on-demand propane heater mounted on the inside bulkhead above the galley. The propane supply is fitted with a Xintex propane fume detector and a manual on/off switch. There are two foot pumps, one for fresh water, the other for salt water.
12 volt DC and 110 volt AC dockside systems. The 12 volt system includes a Group 27 starting battery (2016) and three Group 31 house batteries (2011). The engine charging system includes two alternators, a 125 amp Hamilton Ferris heavy duty alternator that charges the house batteries and a second alternator for the starting battery that is controlled by a switch mounted in the starboard cockpit locker. Other features: battery selector switch, circuit breaker panels for 12 and 110 volt systems, Xantrex battery monitoring system (2002), Balmar digital multi-stage voltage regulator (2002), Prowatt 400 watt modified sine wave inverter (12 v DC /110 volts AC) mounted at nav station, Newmar 30 amp smart charger/converter, Powerfilm flexible solar charger (2011), shore power cord.
The following electronic displays are mounted in aft cabin, on forward bulkhead: Raytheon R10X radar (antenna mounted on mast), Garmin GPSMap 210 chartplotter/GPS, Standard Horizon MD 150 Multi knotlog/depth indicator, Tacktick MN 30 wireless apparent wind direction/speed indicator. Mounted at the nav station is a Standard Horizon Explorer VHF radio transceiver (2016) with Ram 3+ RAM mike (2016). A Standard Horizon CP390i color chartplotter (2013) is mounted on pedestal guard, and an Autohelm AP4000 autopilot is installed to port of the helm station. Pedestal-mounted Ritchie SP5 compass.
