Westsail 32’s are proven Blue Water Cruisers! The design was created by Bill Crealock who further developed the double-ended, traditional boat designs of Colin Archer and William Atkin to make a comfortable, solid, extremely seaworthy sailing craft that can go anywhere.
Priya, Sanskrit for ‘Free Man’ has been owned by her current owners for 27 years. They are now in their 80’s and can no longer manage the vessel due to health reasons. She’s ready for her next voyagers.
While the wood exterior of Priya needs some love, the rest of the boat looks to be in very good condition. These boats were built before they realized how strong fiberglass was so they are incredibly solid hulls. Priya will feel like a larger boat underway with her 19,500lbs displacement she’ll plow through waves instead of being pushed around by them. With her cut away fore-foot she will maneuver well while docking etc.
She is powered by a Yanmar 3HM35, 35HP diesel engine that only has 1850 hours. She was re-powered in 1992. She burns approximately ¾ gallons/hr of diesel that pushes her along at 5.5-6knots. Her tanbark Main, Jib and Staysail are in very good condition. She also has an extra Genoa, Nylon Drifter, Dacron Storm Jib and Trysail onboard.
Her decks are roomy and easy to walk around with the external chain plates. She has a Simpson Lawrence Hyspeed manual anchor windlass to hoist her 35lb Bruce w/ 200’ 3/8 chain or the 25lb CQR w/ 100’ 3/8 chain. There is also an extra bucket of 350’ of 5/8 rope rode. She has 2 Barient 22ST Bronze Self-Tailing Winches in the cockpit as well as a Barient 16 Secondary Winch and two Barient 16 Halyard winches on the house top. Her Dodger and a Bimini cover, that attaches to the boom gallows, make for nice sun and rain protection in the cockpit. The current owner built a push pit all around the stern to close it in and make it safer. There is also a Cape Horn Self-Steering Wind Vane on the stern.
Down below is open and bright and in very good condition. The galley is to port with an icebox, Two Burner Propane Stove with an oven, Stainless Sink and lots of storage. To starboard is a large chart table and lots of storage. Going forward to the Salon there is a large settee on starboard and a dinette to port that drops to a double berth. On the starboard fwd bulkhead in the Salon there is a Dickinson ‘Alaska’ Diesel Heater. There is lots of storage under the setee and dinette benches and behind them. Forward of the Salon to port is a large head that has a dual opening door. You can close a door from the head to the Salon as well as from the head to the forward cabin, making the forward cabin private from the rest of the boat. The head has lots of storage and a Jabsco Marine Head. There is also a sink with pressurized water in the head. To starboard, across from the head, is lots of storage and a hanging closet. The master cabin has lots of storage and the berth is set to port.
Slip in Pleasant Harbor Marina, near Blyn Washington, is also available for purchase (for person purchasing boat).
Priya is incredibly well laid out and will make a great sailboat for the next owners. While her wood work on the exterior needs some attention everything else appears to be in very good condition. Westsails are proven cruisers and Priya is still has a long life ahead of her! She’s ready to find her next owners who want to go sailing!
Showings available immediately by appointment only, thank you!
