A classic small trawler whose distinctive lines and practical design continue to garner a loyal following among Northwest cruisers. Her long keel and heavy displacement account for her proven sea keeping abilities, while her excellent living space, flooded with natural light and 6'3" headroom ensure enduring appeal.
'Fiddler' was purchased by her current owner in 2009 and in 2013 underwent a substantial refit below the waterline comprising significant refastening and minor areas of re-planking where ever needed to the tune of $25,000. The teak decks were also re-seamed on the fore deck, and in 2009 a new stainless steel water tank was installed along with new hose lines. In 2008 a forced air diesel heater was installed; in 2014 the topsides were re-painted; in 2017 bottom paint was done and all brightwork received ten coats of varnish, and in 2018 new batteries were installed. A new 3 blade bronze propeller has also been recently installed.
In the last couple of years other priorities have intervened and 'Fiddler' now needs some minor cosmetic TLC to bring her back to her former glory. The good news is that she has been well protected from the elements beneath her full winter cover and remains fully operational and capable of going cruising today.
The 120 HP Ford Lehman diesel engine, with only 5,249 original hours, is a dependable and low maintenance power plant that shines like new, as does the mechanical space generally, and will push Fiddler along at an economical 8 knots all day long.
The boat runs well, the engine starts first time and overall 'Fiddler' represents a very economical proposition for getting out on the water and cruising the Salish Sea in a pleasing and distinctive classic that continues to turn heads where ever she goes.
