The Ostkust class was designed by Al Mason during the off hours from his regular 9 to 5 job as the head draftsman for Sparkman and Stephens
The Ostkust design is obviously based on the traditional Swedish folkboats but in Mason’s interpretation with carvel planking, a slightly wider beam, generous sail plan and dramatically raked transom the end result is a boat much more pleasing to the eye and more comfortable to either day sail or cruise.
MOLLY BAWN is an excellent example of the Ostkust class and under the current ownership has seen significant improvements and upgrades as performed and provided by Brooklin Boat Yard where she has been stored and maintained for the last 13 years.
