History & characteristics of Anarag:
Wonderful wooden slup, build in 1936 by Frank Paine in Boston as "Angelina". It is supposed, she was designed as a prototype for a one-design racing class for the NYYC. Although it was Stephens´ NY32, who finally made it on the racing course, she is a fast and elegant classic with a furtive side glance at the famous J-class.
She is completely build in mahogany and has has undergone various refits during her history. Renamed as "Singoalla" she went to Brasil in the early 50ies and in 1984 she was sailed over the atlantic to Portugal and later into the Mediterranean. "Anarag" has hosted celebrities like B.B or statesmen like the former president of Venezuela.
Finally the beauty found her place in Majorca - where her owner after 24 happy years of sailing with the family and also successfully competing in classical races, decided to let her go. Her last refit she received in 2001 in Majorca and at the day she is in very good and ready to sail condition. She can be reviewed at any time.
Anarag can be sailed easily by 2 persons for recreational purpose, a full regatta and/or heavy weather crew consists of 8.
For more details on her history, owners, refits, publications etc. please call or send an inquiry by email.
