She behaves as if she preferred rough seas and gray days. As if a head sea, rain, and squall are elements whose taming is her ultimate pleasure. Her secret is an all-weather hull like no other planing hull in the industry. She tracks like a hunter. She is broad and stable. If your satisfaction is a contest of will with a blue marlin, this Ocean is made for you. Her bridge is a study in efficiency, her cockpit tuned to the requirements of serious anglers. Inside, are the elegant salon, roomy dinette, and well-equipped galley that distinguish every Ocean. Below, a true master stateroom announces the precedence of her owners. Together with two additional staterooms and two heads, the yacht carries eight travelers in comfort. For gray days and blue sky ones, for anglers and cruisers both - the 50 Super Sport has become one of sportfishing's and cruising's most accommodating and sought-after midsized yachts.
The spacious salon is enriched by teak, or optional cherry, bulkheads and cabinets, sumptuous fabrics, wall treat-ments, upholstered panels and valances. In addition to the new owner’s choice of one of three custom decor selections from the Standard Equipment List, a unique designer interior can be created by William Bales and Company. An upholstered chair complements the L-lounge, with concealed rod storage. The entertainment center includes a flatscreen TV with a Bose Lifestyle 18 Stereo System and CD/DVD player.
The salon’s teak hi-lo table supplements a handsome and roomy dinette table. The large portside galley is two steps from the dinette. The main deck is fluid and open, allowing ease of movement.
The modern galley is equipped with a convection/microwave oven, a three-burner range, a refrigerator and freezer. Working surfaces and storage (including an underfloor compartment) are ample. Other standard amenities include a trash compactor and central vacuuming system. Sink and countertops are Corian®, the floor Centiva® vinyl tile.
The forward guest stateroom is available in two standard layouts. An “A” plan has a large island berth, a “B” plan an upper-and-lower berth arrangement. Both layouts feature ample storage and a cedar-lined hanging locker.
The third stateroom, to starboard, has comfortable side-by-side twin berths, a cedar-lined hanging locker, and plush carpeting. The teak raised panel entrance door carries the interior accent. Washer and dryer units are located outside, in the companionway.
The luxurious master stateroom, to port, has a walkaround double berth, decorative mirrors, a vanity, two cedar-lined hanging lockers, overhead cabinets and clothes drawers. A flatscreen TV with DVD plus an AM/FM stereo with CD player are standard. This yacht’s master stateroom possesses the room, amenities, and private head entrance typical of larger models.
MASTER, GUEST & CREW HEADS
Both private heads feature enclosed showers, mirrored medicine cabinets, linen storage, Corian® sinktops and countertops, Vacu Flush® toilets, exhaust blowers, and contemporary fixtures.
The bridge boasts a fully instrumented, angled helm station with excellent visibility. The custom-designed hardtop with three-sided enclosure, lounge seating, under-seat rod storage compartment, companion and helmsman’s chairs are all standard.
An EZ2CY enclosure is a popular option, as are an aft enclosure, a cooler/freezer, and Bomar hatch in the hardtop.
The transom-mounted circulating live baitwell, tackle locker, step cooler, and the bait prep center’s freezer and fresh-water sink enhance the sportfish-ing experience. A hinged gate in the transom door, fresh and seawater wash-downs, rodholders, and large insulated fishboxes are standard.
Rupp center rigger, outriggers and a fighting chair are tournament-ready options. Engine-room and Lazarette access is located here.
Soundproofed and insulated, the roomy engine room suppresses engine noise and heat. Awlgrip finish and an 11.5 kW generator are standard.
The 50 Super Sport possesses the soft contours, modified flush-forward deck design, and raised sheerline that make Oceans the touchstone in classic American production yachts. What is not immediately apparent, however, is her highly efficient planing hull.
A pair of down-angling strakes feeds water into the suction area naturally occurring on planing hulls. This action reduces resistance. Water is also fed to the props, resulting in less slippage and improved efficiency at lower speeds.
Like her sister ship, the 57 Super Sport, the 50 SS has an evolved planing hull, which makes them the best roughwater yachts in Ocean’s more than 25-year history – perhaps the best in their class. They can remain at cruising speed, in difficult seas, and not take a beating. While foul weather may keep most other sportfishermen at the dock, they are running for the offshore canyons – and the big-game fish.
The 50 Super Sport is capable of 30+ knots with standard diesel engines driving her. Optional powerplants are available for those wanting even more power. These unbeaten top speeds are achieved using more fuel-efficient engines with smaller footprints.
Well-styled convertible offers high-end luxury, hardcore fishability in a modern high-performance package. Elegant three-stateroom interior is dominated by spacious salon/galley/dinette area with extended L-lounge, full entertainment center. Washer/dryer is located in companionway; forward guest stateroom is available with island berth or over/under bunks. Cockpit comes with stand-up live-well, bait-prep center, in-deck fishbox. Note spacious engine-room. Large helm console.
