The Hunter 420 has a great cruising layout with two private staterooms, two full heads, a wonderful galley and a huge amount of well-organized and accessible storage.
Starting all the way forward, there is a private, ensuite head for the guest stateroom. It has Corian countertops, a vanity with sink, a shower with sump, its own holding tank and macerator.
Unlike most forward cabins which have V-berths, the guest stateroom has a large double Pullman berth to starboard. This increases the spacious feel of the cabin. In addition, an opening “window” with a folding wood screen has been designed in the bulkhead between this stateroom and the main salon, so that when privacy is not desired, it can be opened, giving both areas an open feeling and additional ventilation. This cabin has a large, cedar lined, hanging locker, large shelves, dresser drawers and a built in book rack.
Moving aft, the main salon features a spacious, comfortable wrap-around settee along the forward starboard area of the salon, with a matching settee to port. The beautiful high gloss dining table for entertaining, teak and holly sole and interior woodwork gives the salon an open yet traditional feeling. There are numerous opening hatches, several large opening ports all designed to provide ample light and ventilation. The main salon has a 6’ 6” headroom.
Just aft of the dinette and to starboard of the companionway stairs, is the conveniently located nav station. This area houses the controls to all the ship’s systems as well as has space for electronics. The seat for the nav station is contoured teak for secure and comfortable seating in any kind of seaway.
The engine compartment forms the base of the companionway stairs. Easily accessible from all four sides, this arrangement makes routine maintenance and inspection a breeze.
Directly across from the nav station, is a full U-shaped galley with all of the amenities required for cruising comfortably.
A passageway aft of the nav station leads to the private master stateroom. Along the outboard side of the passageway there is additional storage in the form of a large cedar-lined hanging locker. The master stateroom features a large, centerline/island queen bed. There are built in night stands on both sides of the head of the berth. Both sides of the cabin are lined with storage including a large cedar lined hanging locker, with a pull out desk/dressing table to starboard, large cedar lined hanging lockers, plus large shelves and dresser drawers. The aft cabin has 6’ 5” of headroom and great ventilation with six opening hatches and ports. All ports and hatches have screens and the hatch has a privacy screen.
