NOMAD is an extremely well-equipped, well-maintained example of the Robert Perry designed and Ta Yang built Tayana 48. Using only quality materials, Ta Yang built a yacht which has it all - speed under sail, safety in any sea condition and comfort found in few yachts of this size. In addition, the Tayana’s were built semi-custom, so each boat offers something special to buyers.
The current owners of NOMAD did a refit on her in 2013 and have been happily cruising ever since! Due to unexpected medical issues, they have reluctantly decided to list NOMAD for sale. Currently, the boat is in Florida, but this may change if the owners continue their cruising adventures around Florida and head south along the Gulf coast.

Refit Done in 2013:
Rigging & Sails
Cockpit & Deck
Upgrades Done in 2013 by Prior Owner:
The center cockpit design has proven itself to be a popular choice for larger cruising yachts for over 40 years.
Beginning forward, there is a large V-berth guest stateroom. Immediately aft to port is a large head compartment with separate shower stall. Its placement and size make it very functional to use as the primary head. Across to starboard is a locker/cabinet which includes one of the air conditioner units and the watermaker. It also has room for some storage.
Continuing aft, you enter the main salon that features a large L-shaped settee to port with a drop leaf table and a straight settee to starboard. The port side settee opens to a sea berth when needed. There is storage below the settee berths as well as outboard and above the settees. The large, corner navigation station is to starboard at the base of the companionway. The L-shaped configuration offers more work surface and doubles as a work desk. In addition, access to the electric panels and controls are located in this space.
Aft of the dinette and to port is the linear galley with excellent storage capacities and access to the master cabin.
The aft stateroom features a centerline queen berth, numerous storage lockers, cabinets and hanging locker space and two settees that soften the room and give a good place to sit. The aft head is spacious and has facilities to take a shower.
This walk-through galley is a chef's dream, particularly when preparing meals while underway. There is an inboard counter with deep, double, stainless steel sinks with a long expanse of counterspace with high fiddles outboard as well as excellent storage for provisions, large refrigeration/freezer capacities and a very large 25 gph watermaker.
The Tayana 48 was designed to be a boat that would out-perform the competition in its size range in both boat speed and interior volume, while using quality materials and the best craftsmanship available. All Tayana hulls are built with hand laid-up fiberglass and PVC foam core construction. This construction guarantees a light weight and great strength, while offering added insulation from sound and moisture. The result is an unbelievably practical and sturdy boat that can withstand whatever lays ahead.
On deck, substantial toe rails combine with ¼” stainless steel lifelines and sturdy stanchions to provide a secure feeling under way. Strategically placed grab rails add to the safety and ease of movement in rough seas. Even the ground-tackle system is outstanding, with two hefty bow rollers and a powerful windlass to make it easy to set and raise the hook. The high center cockpit is comfortable and dry and provides excellent visibility to what lies ahead. The rigid bimini set-up adds to the secure feeling in the cockpit while still allowing exceptional access in and out and great visibility even while standing at the helm!
