AMAZING SO-CAL DESIGN!
Custom Design / Quality Build
A reminder of a bit of yachting history is seen in this 30' Willard Marine Live Aboard Trawler. Borrowing ideas from the Mathis cruising houseyachts of the 1930's, FAIT ACCOMPLI utilizes every square inch of space from stem to stern. Naval architect Rod Swift took his customer's sketch and layout and came up with this fascinating trawler.
Her profile, with it's round-topped windows, is a definite throwback to the old Mathis. Stepping into the salon through a sliding door on a well deck to starboard, one cannot help but wonder if they are really in only a 30' boat. Aft at the canoe stern is a half round dinette. Just forward on the starboard side is a built in TV cabinet with a small heater mounted in the bottom and highlighted by stained glass doors. A most interesting feature is the stairwell leading up to the control station and lounge deck. A companionway house over the stairs affords easy access (no ducking) topside. Engine access is by a hinged lower section of the stairs. To port is the galley with its stainless steal sink and propane stove with oven followed by the 12v/110v Norcold refrigerator with separate freezer. To starboard is the composting head, sink and stall shower. Access is both from aft in the salon and from forward.
The sleeping cabin forward reminds one of an accommodation that might be found in a 40 footer. The large double island berth is centered forward. There is a desk to port with 3 drawers, one a file drawer. To starboard is the hanging locker. Turning and facing aft there is a counter under the stairwell for a TV. Under this is a Marinetics electrical panel with battery condition meter, battery selector switch and polarity light. Circuit breakers for both the 12 and 110 volt systems complete the panel.
FAIT ACCOMPLI is powered with a 50hp diesel engine which burns less than 1 gallon per hour, and with the 75 gallon tank gives her a range of more than 500 miles. A 50 gallon water tank is also located below the cabin sole. The hull is a full displacement design and carries 4,300 pounds of internal ballast, with a total vessel weight of 17,000 pounds.
Topside there is a comfortable control station protected from the elements by a partial enclosure and the lounge deck aft. The entire upper deck is covered by a canvas awning on a stainless steel frame.
