Quorning Boats introduced the new Swing Wing system in 1989 on the Dragonfly 800. This invention gave the Dragonfly greater versatility and made it more attractive. Provided with a Swing Wing system, the boat took up much less space when in port, and it was a lot easier to transport it on a trailer. From 1989 and well into the new millennium, more than 150 boats have been built. Ready to view in Eastbourne Marina.

I bought the Dragonfly SW800 in Denmark July 2011 and had it delivered by road on its own purpose built Brenderup trailer (supplied by Quorning Boats as were all the fittings and packing pieces)
I have sailed around the SE coast, Rye to Brighton and mid channel since, mostly single handed, I`m not so adventurous as Jen Quorning the designer of Dragonfly who competed in the Round Britain and Ireland Two handed Race !
I adapted the reefing system to twin line for each reef, all from the cockpit for comfort
I re-ran the fore halliard for ease of hoisting the foresail cover single handed, it can be reverted
I changed the outboard to 6HP (recommended 4-6HP by Quorning) ultra-long shaft May 2012 due to the 4HP long-shaft either cavitating or swamping when heading for the harbour
Dragonfly was out of the water Oct 2016, the decals and signage was replaced; the trampolines were serviced and fixings to the hull replaced at the same time
I had the sprayhood replaced Aug 2017, this zips onto the extension for a full cockpit cover
Sails are Elvestrom Genesis jib and main (maintained last year by the Elvestrom agent, Hamble)
The other sails are a light Geniker on its own furling drum, which flies from the removable bowsprit, and an asymmetric chute
