Xplore is a sailing vessel specifically designed and built for the extreme conditions of the South- ern Ocean, as proven in Antarctica, and two circumnavigations. A fast, heavy-weather sailing yacht, Xplore has strong motoring capabilities for when time and conditions demand.
Xplore is self-sufficient at sea and in remote areas for extended periods of time; Xplore has gener- ous fuel and water capabilities, with areas above and below decks for the demands of an expedi- tion support platform.
It is important for the high latitude sailing and exploring we do, that Xplore is constructed of steel, high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) for durability in ice and rock-strewn regions. At 20.42 meters (67- ft.), with a 14-person capacity (including crew) Xplore has a comfortable layout which provides space and privacy within the 6 cabin layout.
Below there is a warmth and comfort conducive to long periods away, particularly in high latitude and polar regions. Xplore was carefully chosen after a world-wide search, then commenced a 10 month re-fit and modifications to customize it for the south.

XPLORE was designed and built for consistent, safe and comfortable world ocean sailing and world exploring. She is also ideal for adventure sail training or for expeditions. A calibre and stan- dard of design and construction rarely found. She offers timeless, elegant lines with modern func- tional layout. Simplicity of systems, set up for short-handed sailing. Proven and reliable, consis- tent longevity and performance Bureau Veritas standard for design, construction and survey "Unlimited Navigation Area".
Maintained, serviced and run in meticulous order with 10 years of proven expedition operations. A unique yacht and business opportunity, complete and operational, a "Turn-key solution".
Rarely do sailing yachts meet the reality and expectations of being "World Capable". "Xplore" is one of those rare creations. Designed by UK renowned naval architect David Thomas in conjunc- tion with Bureau Vertitas, the design brief was to create a world circumnavigating yacht that would safely and reliably go to the ends of the earth, a Range Rover of the oceans. With virtually no budget constraints, the best materials and equipment were brought together, and the results, mile after mile have proven itself.
"Xplore" has been owned and run for 10 years by a professional mariner and sailor who's atten- tion to detail and maintenance standards, mean that "Xplore" is ready to continue great sailing adventures and projects.
Expedition projects are what "Xplore" has done well, the right yacht, set up and professional can more than pay its own way, but deliver excellent results, anywhere in the world. "Xplore" comes with an existing website (http://www.xplore-expeditions.com/) marketing and social media. There is an extensive and detailed new owner training period to ensure a smooth transition into Xplore. As a proven business operation for ten years, the yacht is fully equipped and prepared as a "Turn Key" platform that will take you to your dream places and pay for it.
Designed for ocean sailing and fine tuned for high latitudes and even polar regions, "Xplore's" accommodation of 6 separate cabins can house up to 14 people. The separate living spaces within the yacht mean that on longer extended voyages or projects, people can find their own space to work, live and relax.
STRUCTURE & COATING
Bureau Veritas and independent inspectors Unlimited Navigation Area, BV 2017
"Xplore" was designed to be exceptionally strong, built in the highest qualities of steels in order to face what any ocean might throw at it with absolute confidence.
The hull is constructed of high tensile steel shell plating over “T” bar longitudinal and angle ring frames, deck and coach house are in 316 stainless steel, reducing maintenance to a minimum. Deck entry cuddy / dodger is custom designed in fibreglass and built giving full visibility, polycar- bonate windows and rear closing clear plastic flap for easy entry, a perfect place when the weather is tougher, electronic controls at hand and easy access on deck.
A full depth skeg with Ertalite rudder bearings provide effortless steering for the steel rudder with direct chain/ cable connection to the quadrant, substantial engineering ensures absolute reliabili- ty. Keel design, the moderate fin keel, constructed in cast iron gives moderate draft (2.85m) and excellent sailing performance from the hydrodynamic design. "Xplore" is being slipped in Europe for general maintenance and antifouling in May 2017.
