“I have sailed all sorts of keel boats for the past 35 years in many parts of the world and must say that Quick is one of the most sea-capable, luxurious boats I have ever owned.
I purchased Quick with the intention of sailing her for a few years in the Sea of Cortez before making a Pacific crossing. I love boats and insist that my vessels be in perfect shape. Thus I immediately undertook all the necessary work to make Quick the most pristine and well-equipped vessel one could wish for. Every year for the last three years we have moved aboard Quick in January and sailed in the Sea of Cortez for 3 and 1/2 months. Quick is totally self-sufficient except for food and fuel. We generate our own electricity with solar panels, make our own water, and have very energy efficient LED lights and a fridge/freezer. She is a spacious, comfortable, and classy platform on which to explore and entertain.
For winter cruising Quick is a delight to live aboard and sail. We have spread our sails and winged along the coasts of the Baja California. We have thoroughly relished our time circumnavigating the many islands, anchoring in splendid harbors, swimming, snorkeling the reefs, kayaking the bays, hiking in the desert, hanging out in La Paz and Loreto’s great restaurants, and ghosting alongside the many whales in the Sea. Mother Blue whales and their babies have accompanied us for miles along the coast of Isla Carmen in light winds at 3-4 knots.
Quick is fast and stiff; she can carry a lot of sail in a heavy wind. A 25 knot gust is a breeze for Quick; she just takes it and surges forward. This is a boat aboard which I would feel completely confident crossing oceans. Sadly, the health issue of a family member has made us change our plans. Hopefully Quick will find a new skipper to take her on the adventures for which she was built and equipped.”
