A sharp eye might note West Wind on the side of the boat. Tioga lll was originally named West Wind by the owner's father, who had her built in Taiwan in 1978. He sailed around the world after several years based in Hong Kong where he lived on the boat and had some custom work done. After long stays in various ports of call over some 15 years, he berthed in South Florida for several years. Spending increasingly more time at his home in Santa Barbara, he decided to bring West Wind ‘home’. For nostalgic reasons and wanting a new start in California, he decided to rename the boat Tioga lll - having had both Tioga l & ll in the Santa Barbara marina. The last leg of his sea going adventures to him to Baja, a place where all the family had enjoyed cruising for decades. A so, Tioga ended up at Marina Costa Baja - a place where they got to know Capt Jack. His son, the current owner, has taken over the responsibilities of care and maintenance since his father has been in poor health for several years.
