The yacht, Ida May (ex-Ida M., Ruth L. and Nada III) is a 1926 Sport fish which has been totally restored to original. It was once owned by Stan Laurel of the Laurel and Hardy comedy team, amongst other wealthy and famous Americans of a bygone era. It is considered one of the oldest and fastest sport fishers reaching speeds in excess of 35 knots. The yacht was triple planked at a time when most boats were single or double planked.
This boat a very rare example of how America's wealthiest men spent their social hours. A multitude of celebrities and dignitaries have honored her decks: President Hoover, Mae West, Ernest Hemingway, Charlie Chaplin, Joe Kennedy, Gloria Swanson, Bing Crosby, Rudy Vallee, Orson Wells, Babe Ruth, Zane Gray, and Howard Hughes, amongst many others. This is a one of a kind vessel with no expense spared in materials and craftsmanship. She was considered the most expensive built sport fisher yacht in 1926. The Ida May is an important piece of maritime and sport fishing history and was nominated as a "Vessel of Historic Interest" by the State of California and also listed in The National Park Service, Department of Interior as a "Historic Ship to Visit".
She is rich in Sport Fishing History and is now available for the first time in over a decade.
